At
Centre of Balance naturopathic herbal medicine is used as a form
of treatment which is wholistic in the sense that the whole person
rather than a set of symptoms are treated as a way of enhancing total
health and well being. All people who attend the clinic or yoga centre
are assessed by Maria who is a registered nurse, naturopathic
herbalist, and yoga instructor. An integrated treatment plan is then
developed which may include herbal medicine, nutritional advice,
remedial massage and yoga. Yoga is undertaken either on an
individual basis or within a class environment.
This is
in no way a radical or new therapy. Integrated treatment and the use
and knowledge of the healing properties
of herbs has been acquired and refined over long ages.
As practised at
this Clinic herbal medicine is a safe, gentle and effective component
in the treatment of particular ailments and the promotion of general
well-being.
Most commonly,
naturopathic treatment consists of a First Consultation of about one
and a half hours and including photographic Iris Analysis as a
diagnostic aid. Where
appropriate a herbal mix is prescribed. Over a 6 - 12 week period two
more Follow Up Consultations provide feedback to the practitioner and
support and feedback to the patient, allowing refinement of the
treatment.
After this time
most people will only require occasional contact while
continuing with herbal treatment; others will continue with other forms
of therapy (massage, yoga etc) for a longer period of time as necessary.
Many, but
not all, private health funds offer
rebates. Maria Jude is Member Number 7317 of the Australian
Traditional Medicine Society Ltd.
