Please
join Centre of Balance Yoga in helping keep the children of India warm.
Many people don’t realise that India can be a very cold place in
winter. The temperatures in Jharkhand State can be very
low in winter and many houses do not have windows, let alone any form
of heating or hot water. We are aiming along with other yoga centres to
knit hundreds of warm jumpers to send over to the villages which are
cared for by Sivananda Math, the social service arm of Satyananda Yoga
which works in the areas around Rikhia, an extremely poor district.
Here
is the pattern we are using. It is very simple and a fast knitter can
knit a jumper in a night or two! It is best to use 8 ply wool, acrylic
or an acrylic/wool mix, and nice bright colours.
If
you have your own favourite patterns for baby or children's items feel
free to use those, hats, booties, vests, scarfs are all welcome.
Once
you finish your item/s please deliver to Centre of Balance, 7 Poke St,
Cooee and they will be taken to the Satyananda Yoga Ashram in NSW. From here they will be taken to Rikhia, India.
Any enquiries to
Maria Jude on 6431 2276 or maria@centreofbalance.com.
Please feel free to
inspire your knitting mums, aunts and grandmas to help us out too!
