- El Chalten
September, 2000
Day trekking to Lake Capri - we got within 15 minutes of it but turned back due to weather conditions and fading light
Tried to walk to Lake Capri. First attempt to take photograph of drinking at pond but wrong position. Next photo was better
Lake Capri Trek. We reached this frozen lake and had a lovely cool drink from it. I, of course, preferred to blow bubbles in it
Lake Capri Day. We walked round to the front of the pond to take a photo with the mountains in the background. The walking track to Lake Capri was to the left of this photograph
Day 2 at El Chalten. I think we were trying to photograph Torres but it had cloud around it.
Day 2 at El Chalten. View of one of the mountains on our trek to Lake Torres
Day 2 at El Chalten. Lake Torres in foreground, Glacier in centre, surrounded by snow capped peaks of the Andes. We lot the track trying to avoid the water. No one told us we only had to stay on the right side of the river to reach the Lake. Ended up walking up a forested hill and down a stoney hill (to put it mildly). Then across snow covered flats but worth the 6 and a half hour trek. Arrived at our destination at 5pm and made it back to El Chalten in 2 and three quarter hours.
Day 2 at El Chalten. Boy were we glad to see the sleepy town of El Chalten. By this time is was almost dark. We could see all the houses in the valley but the photo is too dark to show them
