Turning around 180° affords a view of Old Parliament House. In the distance is Mt. Ainslie. If you look below that, you can see a thin red strip. This is Anzac Parade (shown below) which leads to the War Memorial.
It took me a little while, but I finally made it to the War Memorial, and while it was too dark to take a photo of it, I was rewarded instead by a beautiful pink-sky sunset. This area is quite close to traffic (you can see a side street on the left), and being that it was quite busy, it was surprising to see a troop of kangaroos grazing on the memorial lawn, being the timid animals they are - regardless of the opinion the international community would have of kangaroos after we gave ourselves the vulgar reputation of kangaroo boxing. Please note that, to my knowledge, this no longer takes place in Australia. Here's footage of the sort of thing people used to call entertainment.
By the way, if you were wondering about, or dispute, my use of 'troop', I found the word at USGS, take a look for yourself.
One of the giant antennae used at Canberra's Deep Space Communication Complex at Tidbinbilla to communicate with spacecraft. It is one of just three tracking stations in the world linked to NASA's Deep Space control centre. There is more information at the ANC tourism site mentioned above.
