Rurrenabaque
Outskirts of La Paz

This is the outskirt of La Paz, taken from a 12-seater light plane on my way to Rurrenabaque, a little town in the Amazon region. The little fenced squares you see near many houses is probably for a little crop plantation.

Inside the plane

Ok, ok, it's a bit of a boring shot, but I just thought I'd take a photo to show what the plane looked like from the inside. I was hoping that the green Amazon forest would be able to be seen through the window, but it was too bright.

Outside the plane

This was after we landed in Rurrenabaque. La Paz was about 14° Celcius when I left, and hence so was my camera. When I took my camera out of its case, it immediately fogged over with the high humidity of the air, and took 10 minutes to clear.

Lowlands of Rurrenabaque
Riverboat ride

After a couple of days relaxing in the wonderful warmth of the lowlands (remember that although La Paz is quite near the equator, which would usually make the area quite hot and humid, it is also 3800m above sea level, which cuts the humidity, and brings the temperature to 13-25 degrees in the winter/summer), I decided to take a tour. There are two main options. One is to The Pampas (flat lands), the other in the mountains. This one is The Pampas, hence the slow, winding river.
