- Antigua
The day I arrived in the very popular Gringo town of Antigua they were having some sort of yearly celebration, where they march in the street and listen to a sermons from various priests.
Guatemala's version of a fire cracker. This guy loads a big mother of a cracker into the cylinder, with a 10cm (4in) fuse hanging out. He then very timidly pokes at the fuse with a smoldering coconut leaf. As soon as he sees, or hears, the fuse catch, he only has time to turn his back before it explodes (as you can see from the photo, behind the smoke). I was sitting about 7 metres away, and still felt the shock from the blast.
Needless to say, for those who know me, that I think these things are just too cool.
